THEY'VE been a happy couple for 25 years, but it turns out comedian Dave Spikey and wife Kay didn't know quite as much about each other as they thought they did.
Phoenix Nights star Dave tells me the couple put their relationship under the spotlight after they were approached to appear on an all-star version of classic game-show Mr and Mrs.
And they fared that badly - the couple decided to turn down the primetime ITV show!
He explains: "We were asked to do the new Mr and Mrs show, and weren't that sure about it. So we headed to the pub to have a go at the sort of questions they'd be likely to ask.
"Within half an hour we weren't even speaking to each other. Kay was saying: `I can't believe you don't know my favourite film, we've known each other for 25 years and you think it's Gone With The Wind?'
"It turns out her favourite film is Rebecca, which I would never, ever have got.
"Needless to say, after that we decided we were not going to be doing Mr and Mrs."
It's a bit of a shame as I'm sure the couple would have been hilarious on the All Star Mr and Mrs.
Instead we'll have to make do with celebs including Kerry Katona and her hubby Mark Croft and comedian Vic Reeves and model wife Nancy Sorrell who have already signed up for the show, to be presented by Fern Britton and Philip Schofield.
However, you will be seeing Dave popping up on screen in the spring in the new series of celebrity Ready Steady Cook - he tells me he'll be competing against his old mate, former Corrie star Sally Lindsay.
Dave said"I'm really looking forward to it as I want to go on and promote vegetarianism."
And Dave is also keeping busy with his new UK tour - Laughter is the Best Medicine - calling at Salford's Lowry theatre on March 16, Stockport Plaza on March 27 and Manchester Opera House on April 18.
But despite the hectic tour schedule that's taking him all over the country, Dave always makes sure he's back home with Kay after every gig.
"I always drive home after every gig. I know it sounds parochial but I like being at home at the end of the day."
